Today, thanks to an exclusive ceramic sealing process developed by Souriau’s US subsidiary, PA&E, SOURIAU offers the only lightweight, truly hermetic fibre optic feedthru, extending the conventional uses of fibre optics to applications that require fibre optic performance and a high level of hermeticity such as space and aviation applications (embedded control-command data transfer, tank filling and level monitoring) and scientific applications (particle accelerators).
Close on the heels of the release of MapleSim™, Maplesoft™ announced the availability of the MapleSim Connectivity Toolbox. This new product enables users to export high-performance MapleSim models into Simulink®, thus taking advantage of the intuitive, multi-domain physical modeling environment of MapleSim as part of their toolchain.
The Waterclean System – developed under licence from CALEFFI France’s ‘Carlier Meskel’ system and industrialized by CIAT – has won the Golden ENEO 2009 award at the Energy, Temperature Control & Water expo held in Lyon from 25-28 February. Waterclean is an innovative concept that protects users of sanitary water from the risk of Legionella, Pseudomona and other bacteria. It eliminates them when they are present in the water supply of buildings, or develop naturally in distribution networks. Waterclean System is the first solution on the market that takes into account the global problem of sanitary water when it involves both hot and cold water.
Dr. Frank Allmendinger leads a research and development project team at Marquardt GmbH, a German company that develops and manufactures switches and switching systems. Over the last three years, his team designed an innovative three-dimensional load and imbalance sensor, which is used in a new washing machine model from a well-known company in the "white goods" sector.
Gravograph has boosted product and service quality in the US, following a major improvement program. It initiated the program to fully satisfy the demands of its 60,000 US customers – who place 65,000 orders every year, from a range of more than 5,000 different products. The results are rewarding: an 80% increase of fulfilled call status for technical support, and the number of Returned Goods (RGA’s) has been cut by 85% over the last three years.
Souriau’s new range of 38999 series III connectors, plated with RoHS-compliant black zinc nickel, has just received a Qualified Product Listing (QPL) from the US defence organization, the DSCC (Defense Supply Center Columbus). The result of more than 10 years of zinc nickel plate experience of the Souriau team, this plate is the only RoHS-compliant alternative to cadmium available to date. All the connectors in the range, including series III inserts and cases, are now available in a black zinc nickel version.
More than 100 Ethernet DDW-100 connectors – and 15 Ethernet R208 switches – from Westermo have been installed to manage information from 65 boreholes in the Saint Avold area in Eastern France. Knowing that peak demand on the site can reach 3500m3 an hour, the challenge posed by the reliability and availability of the equipment becomes obvious. An Ethernet network in a redundant ring, connecting the sites that are up to 20km apart, has therefore been installed.
The unique design of these cable clips is a genuine advance. Their inherent performance is supplemented by great ease of use and excellent cable protection. The silicone overmoulding on the inner surface avoids cable damage by vibrations or shocks, while allowing axial adjustment movement.
Capable of attaining a depth of 0.4mm, the XF530p is the world’s first portable deep marking by micro-percussion machine – which stands out for its versatility and ease of use. Whether it is used on tubes or smooth surfaces, it is simply applied to the part, with no need for other pre-tension equipment or supplementary positioning. It can mark pipelines (oil, mining, gas), lifting/hoisting equipment (pallet trucks, forklift trucks), "off the road" vehicles and even naval constructions and metallic structures.
